Our Travels

Both of us love to travel, and over the years we have dragged our battered suitcases through some fascinating adventures. Before meeting Richard, Letty volunteered at an orphanage in Mexico, lived on a shrimp farm in mainland China, inner-tubed down an underground river in Belize and drove a 55 foot passenger tour bus in Alaska. During the two years she spent as a volunteer missionary she also grew to love the people of Hong Kong and hate fried chicken feet. Before meeting Letty, Richard walked miles in the red dirt of Paraguay teaching about Christ, careened through Mumbai in an auto-rickshaw, went scuba diving all over the United States, and explored shipwrecks in the Bahamas and off the coast of Canada.

  

Since we’ve been married, we have continued to travel, adding to our collection of stories; riding daredevil donkeys up mountains in Mexico, waltzing furtively through the Kensington Palace ballroom during renovation, exploring family history in Sweden, ‘taking the waters’ at the Bath Pump Rooms, running pell mell over the bluffs at Beachyhead to catch the double-decker, and getting yelled at by everyone in Vienna except the Italians in the gelato shop. Not to mention getting spooked in the dank interior of Edinburgh’s ghostly bridges, playing pirates in St. Thomas, monster-finding over the surface of Loch Ness, eating Trdlenik cinnamon bread on the Prague castle wall, walking the sewers of Paris, climbing the Eiffel tower in the rain, almost getting kicked off a train in the middle of the Czech countryside, and many many more.  Richard was so sunburned that he could NOT swim, but then the ocean Magen's Bay was so, so beautiful he couldn't resist - so in he went, shorts, shirt, and hat.
