Extended Family-Letty

My parents met while they were both missionaries in Italy. My dad, John, says he knew right away he’d met his future wife. My mom, Judy, says that she had no clue until John showed up on her doorstep in Salt Lake City, 2 months after she had returned from her mission. But he must have been pretty convincing, because they were married within  4 months, and 39 years later they have 6 children, 2 grandchildren and 1 dog.  Judy’s degree is in social work, and John is a CPA.

I am the second of six children, and the oldest kids grew up in Alaska. When I was 12 my folks moved to Texas, then Iowa (to Richard’s home town), then Illinois, followed by St. Louis and finally ended up in their dream house, a five- acre property in rural Missouri on Mark Twain Lake. They have a pond with a paddleboat, a riding lawn mower the nieces and nephews treat like a carnival ride, and a great big garden. My brother James lives with them, and he has big dog named Buddy who loves to play fetch. My Dad loves to take his fishing boat out onto the lake – and while the old girl is not very fast, it is still great fun to be towed behind in an inner-tube!

One of the strongest impressions I have from childhood was how much my parents loved each other. They spoke it, showed it, and shared it without reservation – their love overflowed the walls of our home and made it a wonderful place to be. Today we all gather for the holidays for tons of good Southern cooking. In the summers we can be found out on the lake and playing board games. In the winter we can be found cooking, eating, and - yes - playing board games.
I'm very close with my siblings; we go on sibling vacations together, have sisters weekends (AKA - shopping marathons) and share film and television recommendations.

I only have one niece and one nephew, and they are the center of attention at every gathering. My whole family is so excited about our adoption plans so they can have more grandkids, nephews and nieces to spoil.

SISTERS
I'm very close with my sisters, and we love to get together and dress up for our favorite events - below see Rose and I at a Tim McGraw concert, and all three of us geared up for the Twilight premier, complete with fake Twilight tattoos.
